Cavalier Logistics: Around The Corner Or Around The World MyCav | QuickTrack
10 + 2 and YOU

As many of our customers are already aware, anyone importing into the USA via ocean freight or having goods transit through the USA are now required by Customs and Border Protection(CBP) to file data as part of the Importer Security Filing(ISF) regulation which is commonly called 10+2. This new regulation is currently in “Flexible Enforcement” which means that CBP expect importers to make good faith effort to comply but will not assess liquidated damages for failure to comply until Jan 26th 2010.

So what is 10 + 2? It is now required to file specific data about all inbound ocean shipments at least 24 hours prior to departure from port of loading and further information at least 24 hours prior to arrival in the USA. Cavalier has been filing ISF data for our customers for several months now. However, as the January deadline looms we feel it pertinent to advise that CBP has already stated that it will look favorably upon importers who have a track record of ISF filing.

Therefore we are encouraging ALL our customers to comply with the ISF regulation now and are making ourselves available to assist in this process. Our ISF team headed by Manny Seligmann, Director of Brokerage, are available to answer any and all questions at isf@cavlog.com. We have also included links and attachments which we think could prove useful.
